Before you buy - Part 1 Choosing a Builder

The first and most important decision you will have to make in your building journey is, choosing who to build with. Building a new home is probably the most significant investment you’ll ever make, so it pays to do some research before making a final decision. At Celebration Homes we want to be with you every step of the way, so here’s some tips on how to make a well-informed choice.

Understand the level of specification included

Understanding what is and what isn’t included in the specification can be confusing, particularly for first time builders. We want to make life easy for you, so we live by the philosophy – what you see is what you get. From kitchen appliances and soft closing cupboards, to double bathroom vanity basins and even flooring – we’re completely transparent about what you’ll get in your new home. However, this is not always the case, so it’s important to ask the question and ensure you know what you’re up for from the get go.

Get to know the builder

This is crucial before you sign your contract, so here’s some hints to help:

See what other people are saying

A builder’s reputation is a vital clue to what your experience will be like. Websites like Product Review can help with this information. It’s also a good idea to look at homes currently under construction by the builder, to see what the quality and cleanliness is like for yourself.

Fixed Price Contract?

Establish your budget is and ensure your builder sticks to this. Ensure fixed pricing where possible, especially on costs such as site works.

Ask yourself what you’re looking for in a builder?

Most builders specialise in certain areas of the market, so it’s important you choose one who can demonstrate they consistently deliver on what you are looking for.

Ask lots of questions!

Remember, it’s not your job to know everything about building (it’s ours!) It’s important that you feel confident & comfortable with the builder you choose, as this journey to homeownership is one you’ll take together.

Focus on quality and experience

Remember that builders have plenty of designs and there’s only so many ways you can shuffle rooms under one roof. So when you visit a display home, look at the quality of the fittings & finishes and get an understanding of the type of service you would receive if you were a client.

This is a great way to narrow down a couple of builders you are interested in and then see what floorplans they have that are little more you.

FAQs

Our build timeframes vary dependant on your circumstances, speak to a New Homes Consultant for up to date info on our timeframes and your build.

Part of the More to Celebrate philosophy is providing a higher standard of specification to begin with. That way you don’t end up with a large tally of extras and options on your final bill.
We also don’t fill our display homes with features that are above the standard price. In other words, what you see is what you get.

At Celebration Homes, we like to make things easy for our customers so we help you find the perfect block, pair it with a winning design suitable to your area and package it up as one final cost.  This has the benefit of requiring one loan instead of multiple and will ensure you save unnecessary fees/charges.
