There’s a huge difference between a bathroom and a statement bathroom. It’s the place where we get ready to start the day and where we unwind with a warm bath at night. We’re not the only ones who love a bathroom – the bathroom was recently voted to be the second most important room in a home.  There’s more to a bathroom than just functionality, it’s a stylish space that is relaxing and aesthetic. We sat down to chat to the bathroom experts, Reece, to get a rundown on what makes a five-star bathroom.

It’s hard to know whether to play it safe and go with the timeless chrome taps or be brave and incorporate more modern colour schemes such as matte black into your bathroom design. We’re seeing more and more bathrooms taking a braver approach and incorporating more colour into the design. A bold tile choice or contrasting cabinetry can create a bold, modern look in your bathroom.  If you are keen to dive into the world of colour, the general rule is to try and keep a consistent style throughout the home. For example, a bold tap choice will look great when carried through all the bathrooms of a home.

All about the vibe

Maybe it’s from the lack of travel lately, but we’re seeing more people than drawing inspiration from resort or hotel-styled bathrooms. With a few simple design features, you can create a bathroom that oozes elegance and relaxation.

Key elements to include:

Natural light:

This is a must for anyone wanting to create an open feel to their bathroom. Natural light expands the space, making it feel bigger, fresh and positive space to walk into. Short on natural light? A nifty tip is to include a big mirror to reflect light & maximise the space.

Showers:

Unsurprisingly the shower space is one of the most valuable spaces within the bathroom. This space is where you can create a resort atmosphere by focusing on the placement of the shower. A hidden, walk-in shower is not only functional, it creates a luxury feel and elevates the space. By incorporating a hidden shower you’re able to transform the space and achieve a hotel/resort-style look.

Colour schemes:

If you are wanting to create a resort-style bathroom, there are a few colours schemes that suit this style perfectly. We love a light grey tile that extends into the shower.  Pair this with a white feature wall in the shower and you’ll be amazed by the end result. These colours lighten the space while maintaining a modern look. Complete the look with a light, natural timbers cupboards and chrome mixers and you’re all set.  If you’re after a more coastal theme, limit the use of contrasting colours and stick to the clean whites. The space will feel fresh and bright.

More choice the better

People love to customise their bathroom to suit their needs and personal style. That’s why having a range of selections for each feature is an instant win.  From finding the right shower head to the perfect tile selection, to the colour of the taps, you want your bathroom to reflect your personality.  Our best advice is to do your research before picking your bathroom fixtures to ensure they are perfect for you. Come along to our selection room to see the full range and start imagining your new bathroom.
