It’s the end of the year, which for most people means two things: Christmas and Spotify Wrapped. The Christmas period is always a great time to relax and reset while reflecting on the year that whizzed past. If you built a home this year, you also get to sit back (preferably in your perfectly decorated living room) and look back on the amazing building journey you just had. Every year on Spotify Wrapped day, phones are thrown open with the anticipation of seeing what songs and artists we had on repeat. So this year we thought we would do our own, to wrap up the busy year of building and reflect on 2021’s hottest trends. The results were interesting, surprising and all worth celebrating!

Most popular home design

First up, our most popular home design. A  whopping 34 of you chose our Crawford Inspiration as your dream home. Valuing 4 huge bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, home cinema AND games room. There’s something to suit the whole family, explore the Crawford more here

Most popular colours

Next, we looked into the most popular colour choices. Floral White took out the most popular paint, with 56 customers. Monument is the most popular for roof choice (a MONUMENTAL 166 roofs) and 122 customers loved Loongana Limestone for their bricks. All minimalistic and neutral colours, the trio of winners are just beautiful and when combined they complement each other perfectly. The striking dark hue of a Monument roof is super sleek and throughout the year we have seen dark roofs becoming a modern staple piece to many trending homes (and judging by those numbers we don’t think they are going anywhere anytime soon!)

Most popular upgrades

The most popular upgrade choices for this year were MyAir, Euro Cargo bins and fridge water taps, three very amazing choices! MyAir is smart air conditioning that lets you control the airflow to any room, from anywhere. You can control MyAir from your smartphone, your tablet, or via smart technology. There’s no question why this feature was the most popular upgrade in homes this year (hello, hot summers days!). Check out more info on MyAir here. The second choice for upgrades was the Euro Cargo bin, the self-proclaimed world’s most luxury bin… bet you never thought you’d read that before! See the Euro Cargo bin for yourself here. Coming in third was a common, yet often overlooked feature, cold water taps in your fridge. In simple words, all these features make your life after building a whole lot easier.

Most popular suburbs

Now for one that we’re sure will cause some arguments… most popular suburbs! The results showed there was a three-way tie from Alkimos, Baldivis and Byford. Coastal Alkimos is a great suburb for buyers who want luxury beach vibes, but without the price tag that normally comes with buying beachfront. Great for couples and families, the beautiful Baldivis explores community and lifestyle by encouraging events and fun within its surroundings. And lastly, Byford is a great place for those who want to combine urban life with country living, without making compromises. Check out our home & land packages in these sought-after suburbs here.

Most loved room

Kitchens, kitchens, kitchens! According to home builders, kitchens are king when it comes to important rooms in the home, and we can 100% see why. A space for entertaining, recharging, refuelling, and simply living, it is so important to get this space right. Most popular design styles

One of the most exciting parts of building your own home is choosing a design style. This is a very personal choice that you make during your building journey, and there are no wrong choices when it comes to your own style! This data, which was collected by the amazing team at Home Collective, shows that the top three design styles are Coastal, Scandinavian and Industrial. You can’t go wrong with a beachy/coastal home, so it’s no wonder so many of our customers chose to style their new house like this (especially If you’re lucky enough to have those stunning Alkimos views!). If you need more inspo on how to style your home, Home Collective is the place to go. Book a free tour with our friendly team here.
