For those that have been following along with Dale’s Home Hints, you’ll know the key things to ask and look out for when finding land, organising your finance and choosing the right builder.
Now comes the exciting part – choosing the right design for your dream home! Here are some hints to help you along the way.
Think with your heart AND your head
My best piece of advice for this stage is to think with your head and your heart in equal measures, otherwise you may see your budget blowing out. At Celebration Homes, we talk about all our homes being ‘beautifully functional’. All homes should have a beautiful design with a bit of ‘wow factor’, but this shouldn’t be at the expense of functionality.
Future-proof your home
Take some time to think about how you see your life in 5 years’ time and be sure to incorporate those thoughts into your home design. Be it an elderly parent coming to live, a shift to working from home, or a new baby… think ahead!
Create a wishlist
Writing a wishlist may sound like a lot of work, but it is an incredibly helpful exercise. I’d encourage you to start writing a wishlist of things that are important to you in your new home, think storage, cinema, study, walk-in pantry etc.
Next, you should work out what are your dream home ‘must haves’, compared to your ‘nice to haves’. Then once your wish list is complete, have a chat with one of our New Homes Consultants – they can help you find the ideal home design to maximise your lifestyle and budget.
